Nicola Henshaw tells stories through wood and metal, creating long-lasting artwork, which is both sculptural and functional. Drawing upon folklore and social history, it is tactile, accessible and often interactive.  She creates site specific work for public spaces as well as smaller domestic pieces for galleries in the UK and the USA.

Nicola has successfully run several community based public art projects across the UK. Recently: Crowdhill (Eastleigh); Buckland Rings (Lymington); Romsey to Abbotswood art trail and Hockey Viaduct interpretation scheme (Winchester).
• These have engaged a wide variety of people in a range of creative activities including writing stories and poems, evoking and sharing memories during “roadshows”, making sculptures and drawing with different tools, printing, photography, film making and temporary installations.
• Each community project is well documented through social media.
• Nicola has worked in a wide variety of locations from new developments and areas of regeneration to sites of special scientific interest.

She lives in the New Forest, Hampshire.

“I was impressed by Nicola’s approach from the minute we received her written bid in response to a specification on the South East Business Portal.  From that point on, she has been organised, efficient client, thoughtful, energetic and enthusiastic.”

Nicola was commissioned for our Abbotswood project in Romsey . The results of community workshops are beautiful bespoke artworks. Her stunning benches, floor way markers and large mural capture the memories and artworks of the communities in a cohesive and charming style.

Nicola led several print making workshops for the local community and produced some stunning artwork at Lakeside in a very tight timescale.  She is skilled at translating the aims of a project into striking results.
